When developing our products, we believe it is important to focus on environmentally friendly formulations, renewable raw materials and the minimisation of packaging waste through recycling and reuse. Read more about how we do this below.
Environmentally friendly formulations
New products are developed with as many biodegradable ingredients and raw materials of natural origin as possible. We avoid the use of harmful chemicals as much as possible and opt for natural, sustainable alternatives. All our formulas are at least 90% biodegradable and 100% free of microplastics.
Renewable raw materials
Wherever possible, we use renewable raw materials such as maize and wood flour and buy them in Europe whenever possible. For example, we use scrubbers made from olive kernels in our Dreumex Wash & Care and corn cobs in Dreumex Special. In addition, the glycerine in Dreumex Plus, Classic and Expert, for example, was replaced years ago by the vegetable variant.
Scrubbers from a by-product
In our Dreumex Special, one of our best-selling hand cleansers, we use scrubbers made from corn cobs from Europe. These corn cobs are a by-product of corn farmers, which would otherwise go unused and thrown away. This would be a waste!
Extra income for farmers
A nice bonus is that maize farmers also get extra income this way. In addition, they are relieved of the burden of having to dispose of the cobs.
Over 40,000 kg of waste saved
By using corn cob scrubbers, Dreumex has already saved over 40,000 kg of waste in 2023!
Minimise, recycle and reuse packaging
Dreumex packaging is designed with sustainability in mind. For example, we use as little packaging material as possible and we want to ensure that the packaging can be recycled or reused. The Dreumex tin is a good example of this. We have been carrying this product for years and it is 100% recyclable.
Tin infinitely recyclable
Did you know that metal can be infinitely recycled without loss of quality?*
Metal makes a great contribution to the circular economy thanks to its high recycling rate and the fact that it can be infinitely recycled.
Every metal contains recycled material
In addition, every metal contains some recycled material, because scrap metal is an integral part of the production of new metal. However, no percentage can be attached to this as it depends on the availability of scrap metal. Metal is the most recycled packaging and it is estimated that around 75% of all metal ever produced in the world is still available for use.
We are also making strides with packaging made of plastic. Our ambition is for our Dreumex plastic product packaging to be at least 80% recyclable by 2030. In addition, we use recycled packaging materials such as recycled cardboard for boxes and plastic packaging made from PCR (post-consumer recycled). We aim for 30% of all our packaging to be made of recycled raw materials by 2030. We also encourage reuse of our packaging by introducing refills. For example, a refill is available for Dreumex Disinfectant & Cleaning Wipes bucket for 800 wipes and we will launch a refill for the Dreumex Expert Wipes bucket in autumn 2024. This is how we promote the circular economy.
