Keep Germs Out of Your Halloween Plans

Halloween marks the beginning of fall festivities for many people. In light of the upcoming flu season and continued pandemic, it is essential to take precautions to lessen worries about illness. When it comes to the well-being of you and your loved ones, it’s worth your time to determine which cleaning products will properly disinfect and help to keep you healthy.

Keep surfaces clean

This Halloween, prepare your residence with sweet treats as well as List N cleaning products. In between trick-or-treaters, wipe down handrails, doorbells, doorknob, door knockers, and even the edge of the candy bowl using disinfecting wipes.

If you’re hosting an event, your party preparation should include a thorough cleaning of all high-touch surfaces, including doorknobs, light switches, refrigerator handles, microwave, and faucet handles. Completely destroy any lingering bacteria, fungi, or viruses by following specific kill time instructions, such as keeping the surface visibly wet for the time indicated on the product label.

Keep hands clean

As you plan to visit fall festivals and haunted houses, remember that the increase in social events also increases the chance for illnesses to spread. Handwashing is one of the most important factors in preventing the dissemination of germs that can lead to respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal illnesses, and other sicknesses, including Covid-19.

Adults and children should participate in frequent handwashing that follows the CDC’s five recommended steps: wet, lather, scrub, rinse, and dry. Soap and water may not always be available, such as when it’s time to eat at an outdoor bonfire. In those situations, come prepared with hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Keep the air clean

Fall is typically the perfect time of year for outdoor gatherings. Hayrides, pumpkin patch visits, tailgating, and trick-or-treating all occur in the crisp, cool air we associate with autumn. However, rainy or chilly weather can force events indoors.

During inside gatherings, run any air filter you own in the common areas. Consider opening a window intermittently or throughout an entire event if weather permits. Outside air is far less contaminated with the airborne particles that are put into the air by talking and breathing.

Keep workplace illnesses at bay

As you focus on celebrating Halloween and other fall activities this year, don’t let an illness from work ruin your plans. In just four hours, one person with a virus can contaminate half of the equipment and employees in their direct vicinity.

Frequently clean high-touch surfaces and wash your hands. Make it easy by supplying each employee with a container of disinfecting wipes as a simple one-step cleaning solution. Commonly shared surfaces should be disinfected one to three times a day, and items in personal spaces disinfected once a day.

By preparing with the necessary supplies, you can limit the transmission of illness and enjoy your Halloween and other fall events with minimal worries.
